Yesterday's permits in your trade, in your inbox, every morning. No portal, no spreadsheet, no 130 columns.

PermitsByBada reads the permit records a city publishes, keeps your trade, and hands you the list. Made for roofing, HVAC, solar, plumbing, electrical, pool and remodel businesses, and for the people who sell to them.

Get the last 7 days free

Pick your metro and trade. We email you the last 7 days as a CSV, so you see your own list before you pay anything.

Email, one click, no card. We send a confirmation link first. When you click it we send the CSV, and you may get a short follow-up or two about the daily feed. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and we never share your address.

What the city portal gives you, and what you get

The city portal

  • One table with every permit, every trade mixed together.
  • The contractor, when there is one, sits in a field you read row by row.
  • The trade is not always a column. Often it is hidden in the words of the description.
  • It is free, but it does not email you. You have to remember to check.

PermitsByBada

  • Only your trade, from the same public records.
  • Address, issue date, permit type, what the work is, declared value and the contractor of record as the city published it.
  • A CSV, a web dashboard, and a digest email every morning.
  • No portal to learn and no columns to hide.

Counts are permits issued in the last 7 days, from public records published by each city. Updated 2026-10-22.

How it works in three steps

  1. We watch the city for you. Every morning we pull the official permit feed for your metro.
  2. We keep only your trade. Roofing is roofing even when the city writes a long description instead of "roof". Our classifier reads every description.
  3. We hand you a clean list. Address, issue date, permit type, what the work is, declared value, and the contractor of record as the city published it. CSV and a web dashboard, with a digest email each morning.

You stay the first call. A fresh permit means the job is starting now.

More on how it works

Who it is for

Each product page names its own buyers.

Where the data comes from

Public records, published by the City of Austin and the City of Chicago. Every row starts as a permit in a city open data portal. We read it, tidy it, sort it by trade and publish it. We do not add anything from other sources. The data sources page names each dataset, its licence terms and what we remove.
